Tips for Speeding Up Integration of New Office Technology

New technology can be great, especially in a business setting. Most new tech is designed to simplify and lighten workloads by streamlining processes and improving efficiency. As great as that all sounds, however, many people are resistant to accepting new technology in the workplace. If you’ve ever delayed a system update on your computer or smartphone, you probably understand this mindset at least a little bit; after all, it’s more comfortable to stick with the technology you already know. So, how can you help employees overcome this mindset and speed up the integration of new tech in the workplace? Keep reading to get a few tips.

    Have a Launch Team

Different employees have different levels of receptivity to new technology. While some will firmly dig in their heels, others will be excited to try something new and see how it benefits them in their job. If you want to speed up technology integration, the best thing you can do is identify these latter employees in your office and establish them as your “launch team” for new technology. Because they’re already excited by new tech, they’ll be eager to be the first ones to get to use that technology themselves. These individuals also tend to be those who learn how to use new systems more quickly, and aren’t deterred by a few hiccups in the early days of integration.

These individuals can help you work out the kinks of launching the new technology in your office before you roll it out to more hesitant employees. Not only does this make sure that those who are already wary of the new system will experience as few growing pains as possible, but it also gives your launch team time to talk up the new technology to their coworkers, helping to increase excitement about the change and creating a more positive, receptive atmosphere towards the integration.

    Provide Lots of Information

In addition to having a launch team to get things rolling, you should also take the opportunity to communicate openly with your employees about the change. Let them know why you’ve decided to implement this new technology, and the benefits you believe they and the business as a whole will receive as a result of utilizing it. It would help if you also gave them time to express any concerns they may have, ask questions, and provide feedback, both before and after the integration begins.

Most employees are wary of new technology because it’s introducing an unknown element into their workday. So, if you provide them with ample information on this change, they’ll be less likely to resist it when it’s time to integrate the new technology.

    Work with an MSP

If you’re still concerned about integrating technology quickly, consider hiring an MSP in Orlando, FL, to help with the integration. They can provide you with tips on streamlining the upgrade as well as helping you train your employees on how to use the new systems.
